Press Release by the Rt Hon Emmanuel Jime Gubernatorial Campaign.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives RtHon Yakubu Dogara spoke  on behalf of President Buhari he  addressed the press and thanked Rt Hon Emmanuel Jime and Sen JKN Waku for agreeing to withdraw their case from court without asking for anything in return.Below is a  Press Release by the Rt Hon Emmanuel Jime Gubernatorial Campaign.
The justice we fought for was never about one candidate; it was about tomorrow being better. It was about avoiding a repeatof yesterday. Finally satisfied with the acknowledgementof the genuineness of our grievances and trusting a truly honourable man completely deserving of our total belief that he would bring sanity to all institutions, we make this one sacrifice by continuing the course of justicethrough alternative and legitimate channels. We note with high hopes, the fundamental changes our President shall bring to our party and to our nation. We will not like to be counted as one of those whose personal ambitions stood in the wayof the progress he is committed to.We, accordingly, give commensurate consideration to Mr. President’s series of fatherly entreaties. His clear understandingof what we fight for helped in no small measure in addressing our grouse especially with vivid assurances to rid our party of any tendency that elevates imposition and impunity.Long ago, the offer of a House of Reps ticket was meant to settle our grievances. But that would only have meant that lessons are not learnt and impunity is compensated by impunity in yet another process and contest we were not even an aspirant in. We rejected the offer. Therefore, we insisted that lessons be learnt and assurances of a no repeat be extracted. We are confident we are at that stage now. Lessons are learnt; assurances extracted. For the avoidance of doubt, we have always believed that we earnestly have a genuine and sound case notwithstandingany challenges and limiting factors we were likely to face in court. We regret nothing. We are happy to have stood for something wherein our grievances have been acknowledged and fully appreciated by even the highest office in the land.In the end, our stance for what is right has not waned; we believe our party, the APC shall be an exemplar of the change she professes. We commit ourselves to makingthis happen. For that, there is no sacrifice too big.We salute the eminent role played by Alh. Waziri Tambuwal, Executive Governor of Sokoto State and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Yakubu Dogarain whom the President has trusted to lead today's efforts in complementing Mr President's efforts in this saga.To those we led on this journey, we are grateful for your continued support, prayers and steadfastness. In your numbers, we saw the good in our people and their readiness to support a good cause. We applaud that. We urge you to always walk with your shoulders high. We would not have let go if we didn't think we have extracted enough assurances that tomorrow would be better for Benue. Neveragain shall this mundane legacy of imposition be allowed to rear its ugly head in Benue State. For that was, after all, our ultimate goal. We count on your understanding always. We are grateful, we remain indebted to you.Signed:Emmanuel Jime Gubernatorial Campaign Organization.

A new vista has been opened in thearea of football academies in Nigeria with the formal launch of the Felix Akiga Football Academy in Makurdi, Benue State courtesy offormer Nigerian basketball international, Chief Felix Akiga. At an impressive ceremony held in Makurdi, the Benue State capital recently, the Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom who was represented by his deputy, Engr. Benson Abounu commended the initiative by Akiga noting that whatit means is that Benue State will remain the home of top football stars.“This is a good initiative that is in line with our campaign promises ofcreating a conducive environment for our youths and getting them off the streets. Education and sports isthe key to having an excellent and vibrant youth that can hold their own anywhere in the world. It is in line with our electoral promises that we’re identifying with this dream.“To imagine that this project is coming from basketball player is commendable. We’re therefore donating an expanse of land towards making the project a reality knowing that the benefits will be very rewarding.”The Director General National Sports Commission (NSC), MallamAl-hassan Yakmut in his address, which was read by Idris Gidado, an assistant director in the commission said that given the statutory roll the NSC is charged with in sports development, they cannot but identify with the private sector in the development of sportsin the country.“The NSC is proud to identify with this project and welcome the private sector participation in the development of sports. It’s important that our athletes fuse sports with education. This academy has set out to hunt and identify talents. It suits our programme of developing sports atthe grassroots. We’ll give this our support,” he stated.Akiga, the chief executive of ChoiceLeisure Limited with hotels in Makurdi, Zaria, Abuja, Obudu and Dubai, while shedding light on the project said the academy is to bridge the gap and get players to understand that contracts are not just signed for the sake of it, but must be thoroughly read and understood before putting pen to paper.“Many Nigerian athletes don’t understand the contracts they sign and those who manage them only exploit them for their personal gains. Sports have become scientific and must be understood as such. Prominent players like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo don’t just play the way they do; they are calculative in their ball work because they have gone through a structured process,” he stated.
